| BIOGRAPHY __Born in Oakland, CA. and residing in the East Bay,…..Lunacie A.K.A. Young Lune, shows his versatility through his music which he describes as, “Stevie Wonder meets Charles Manson.” Lune got his name from some old homies from back in the day who had seen him do some crazy sh*t. Somebody once told him, “Everything you do is,…utter lunacy,” so the name speaks for itself but now with much more meaning to it. At an early age, Lunacie learned to play a number of instruments including, piano, drums, saxophone, kalimbas, organ, & congas. Growing up, Lunacie listened to everything from Hip-Hop to Rock,Blues to Pop, genre to genre & “pretty much anybody that’s creative & the best at what they do”. This opened up a whole new world of music and inspiration to the already talented Lunacie. His mother recognized his talent at a young age so she tried to musically expose him to as much and as many styles aspossible. Church and gospel music played a huge role in his upbringing as well so the soulful sound is evident through some of his work. Lune seemed to know that all music should be respected and valued across the board regardless of genre. One of Lunacie’s Uncle not only got him interested in making beats but he challenged him. “Me and my Uncle Theron were riding in the car onetime & heard a 2Pac song (I get around), he looked at me and said, ‘The only reason I like this song is cause it’s a smooth piano playing in the background,…it comes up every four bars,…see if you can hear it.’” Let’s just say Lunacie heard it. With all these influences and a massive interest in music and the industry itself, Lunacie knew he had all the tools to become successful. And with the lure of the emerging phenomenon known as hip-hop, it was only a matter of time before Lunacie began working on his own define style of music. When asked how he feels about his music, he says, “In a word,…necessary, in more than a word, …beautiful power being delivered so intelligently it’s often misconstrued as having offensive undertones, (ha ha ha).” Writing has been an appeal for him as well. Poems, stories, even movies that have some sort of twist or surprise ending were scenarios that Lune said,“wanted to be all over it.” After hearing & witnessing a lot of bullshit being played on the radio and on T. V., Lune felt a new breath of talent was needed and he wanted to be that person. “Everybody was sayin’ how great this music was while I was disagreein’ thinkin’, ‘I can do better than that,’” and that’s all it took to ignite the fire. A talented producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and rapper, Lune’s intense lyrics and his production skills will certainly elevate him to a status that will make him well known in the bay area and in the industry. As he puts it, “As soon as you think you’re on my level, I’ll step it up,…..Don’t Underestimate Me !!!” |
